hi. I’m Menelaos

Curious mind. Careful builder.

I build things that help people, and I spend time with ideas that last.

Hi, I’m Menelaos Vergis. I’m a developer, a reader, a father, and the founder of Menelabs, my small but focused web studio based in Athens, Greece.

Professionally, I build thoughtful digital tools, mostly in the e-commerce world where clean design and usability matter.

I’ve been doing this for over two decades, and I still love solving problems; technical ones, human ones, and the ones that are a bit of both.

Giving Back

I believe in open source, shared knowledge, and the idea that the internet is better when we all help each other out.

Over the years, I’ve tried to give back in the ways that feel natural to me:

Answering questions on Stack Overflow, sharing code on GitHub, and helping other developers avoid the same bugs I’ve already met.

Solving edge cases, obsessing over clean logic, and dropping answers where they’re needed˙ it’s all part of the same curiosity that pulled me into coding years ago.

Slow Living

When I’m not coding, I try to slow things down. I’m chasing the perfect espresso (closer every month), baking fresh bread that fills the house with warm smells, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.

When I need a break from the digital world, I build wooden furniture, something tangible and lasting or fix whatever my wife asks me to (usually after several reminders). Oh, and training… because someone has to carry all those grocery bags.

These slow rituals keep me centered, curious, and ready to dive back into code with fresh energy.

My Reading Journey

Books have been part of my life as long as I can remember. Fiction that grabs me, nonfiction that teaches me, and lately, translations - moving stories between Greek and English, trying to preserve what made them special in the first place.

Also known as Akis Vergis

Some call me Menelaos, others Akis. And technically, I’m also Spiros.

I was named after both my grandfathers: Menelaos Vergis and Spiros Mesimeris. Since each grandmother called me by a different name, my parents figured it was easier to give me a third, Akis.

I respond to all three, plus “Hey you”, “That guy with the laptop”, and “Can you fix the Wi-Fi?”.

If any of this strikes a chord - whether you want to talk tech, share recipes, swap book recommendations, or just say hello - don’t hesitate to reach out. Feel free to email me at menelaosvergis __at__ gmail .com.

I’m always happy to connect with curious minds and fellow slow living enthusiasts alike.
